The city of Cottbus ( Sorbian: Chóśebuz ) is approximately 100 000 inhabitants the second largest city in the south of Brandenburg. Cottbus is the economic, scientific and cultural center of the Lower Lausitz .

The Sorbs as an independent ethnic group maintain their language and culture in the Lower Lausitz. Especially on these occasions the festive costumes are worn in the different regions.
